We took too many photos when we were in Ely, so we’ll have
just a brief account of our stay there, followed by a gallery.
Sat 20th July
Ely
We took a different route into the city and explored the market
before visiting the cathedral. We took lots of photos, and were pleased to find
on display a piece of art by Banksy called “the Grappling Hook”. We also found
the statue of James’s great x 6 grandfather, Robert Butts, who had been Bishop
of Ely.
We had a cream tea in the cathedral garden, and our evening
meal in a fish restaurant by our mooring.
No boating today
Sun 21st July Ely
We visited the Lighthouse Church and were warmly welcomed.
The worship was good, with several songs new to us. The talk was a little
hesitant, as it was the first time for this lady, but the content was good. The
main message was not to let past experiences define your future. The main building is all in scaffolding as they are making improvements to have a bookshop and café.
No boating this morning
Next: escape from Ely this afternoon,
and head for Brandon for some wildlife. Next Sunday we hope to be in Downham
Market.
And now the photos:

That's it!
