Aylesbury in January and February

We are just about to depart on our boat, going to Weedon for a repaint, plus new solar panels, and a repair to the bow thruster, which hasn’t worked for two years.

Meanwhile, we have had our first winter in our apartment. We have missed the companionship in the canal basin, and we have been unable to invite our new neighbours in for drinks or meals due to the lockdown. However, we have enjoyed the changing views out of our window, where we overlook the Aylesbury Arm, and a park beyond. There are distant views to the monument on Coombe Hill.  We have amazing sunrises sometimes. We have had sunshine, snow, fog, ice and rain, and a variety of wildlife.  We have been out occasionally for lovely walks in the countryside.

Here are some photos from January and February.

Then we had the snow and ice, which must have been more difficult for those on their boats.

The wildlife has been interesting. I put out some bird feeders in January, and took part in the RSPB annual garden birdwatch. The most numerous birds we had were black-headed gulls, except, of course, they don’t have black heads in the winter. The second most numerous was the goldfinch. Here are a few of our sightings since then:

Finally some more photos from walks, plus another two sunrises:
